Surrey Take on Dorset and Hampshire in Friendly Matches

On Friday 7th August a Surrey team of six players joined up with teams from Dorset and Hampshire to play in an U10 yellow ball friendly event in Eastleigh, Hampshire. The aim of the day was to create a fun environment whilst giving some competitive opportunities to our talented young players as they return to tennis.

They Surrey team consisted of Bhavana, Katie, Yasmin, Mateo, Peter and Samy who all fought for the Surrey badge in some incredible heat! The format of the day consisted of both singles and doubles against each county with all the players revelling in the 'county cup' atmosphere.

It was a very hot day, I felt it was difficult to play in that heat, however, it was very nice and enjoyable to get back competing with other counties and experiencing to play with yellow ball in a competition.” - Mateo

Throughout lock down many of our players devised ways to keep their tennis sharp including skipping, rallying against a wall, keepy-ups and much more! Aside from the physical side of their game, all of our Surrey players had the opportunity to get some key advice from our County Performance Manager to keep their mental approach nice and strong by watching our 'Inside Performance' series on YouTube.

"I had a lot of fun and I had a fun experience playing with other girls who were bigger and stronger than me.I got to see some girls after a long time." - Bhavana

All in all the event was a huge success, so we are hugely thankful to everyone involved in its setup.
